Question:
"Hello Tim,
Thank you for sending me parts promptly.
Our HP Designjet 500 42in had relatively low usage. The belt was replaced 1-2x over its lifespan.
We got error 22:10, and a short time after that the power supply failed. I ordered and received a power supply and ISS and replaced both. Power works, but there is no action from the plotter except the message error 22:10.
I rechecked connections, and all seems fine. I manually undocked the printheads but no change, just error 22:10. The printer has always had HP cartridges and printheads.
Anything I can do?
Thank you,
D."
Answer:
Error 22:10 can have a few causes, so it's worth ruling things out in order.
First, boot the machine with no ink cartridges installed. In some cases a finicky ink cartridge can cause error 22:10. If the error goes away with the cartridges removed, one of the cartridges is the problem.
Second, if you have the ink cartridge modification chip installed on the interconnect board, remove it, plug the blue ISS data cable directly back into the interconnect PCA, and boot the machine. Take the modification chip out of the equation for now and see if the error persists.
In this case, the error appeared immediately even with no cartridges installed, and nothing besides the belt, power supply and ISS had been replaced. That narrows it down: either the interconnect PCA is at fault, or the interconnect ribbon cable is.
- Designjet 500 / 800 Interconnect PCA (C7769-60042)
- Interconnect ribbon cable: C7769-60298 for 24" models, C7770-60016 / C7770-60267 for 42" models
Best,
Tim Wert
