Saved my DesignJet from the electronic recycler

I was very frustrated with my DesignJet 500. After many years of service, I broke the print head cover latch but was able to patch it together with epoxy. It worked for a while but then it decided to show me an Insert Ink Cartridge message that would not go away. I could not get past the message no matter how many new HP cartridges I inserted. The DesignJet is obsolete, so it is not supported by HP. I decided to look for a solution online. I found some videos on YouTube posted by LPS and decided that, with their help, I could fix it myself. I ordered a rebuilt and re-engineered Ink Tube Kit to solve the broken print head cover latch issue. It is much better than OEM. It was easy to install, with the help of LSP video instructions. But it did not solve the Insert Ink Cartridge message. So, long story short, I replaced the Ink Supply Station and Service Station. All the parts that I received were of excellent quality, whether they were new or rebuilt. The service was excellent, I received the parts within a couple of days, and they provided prepaid mailing labels to return the rebuilt part cores. But I could not solve the Insert Ink Cartridge message. After many emails and advise from the technician at LPS I decided to take the DesignJet 500 into LPS. I dropped it off and within a couple of hours, the technician had it working. LPS saved my plotter from the electronic recycler and me thousands of dollars to replace it.

I purchased my HP Designjet 500 plotter in 2005. It has been pretty trouble free with the exception of the drive belt that had to be replaced once in the last 19 years. Earlier this month, I had an error code come up and went online to investigate. I came across a blog that described the error code implications, watched the video, and ordered the part. This was on Friday, the part arrived on Monday. I replaced the service station with little difficulty and my plotter runs great. Huge thanks to LPS Computers. Absolutely outstanding service. It's too bad that more businesses cannot be run more like LPS. FIVE STARS!
