Designjet 500, 800 rail lubrication

HP Designjet 800 ps oil question Hello, Thank you for your excellent video. We completed installation of the replacement belt without issue or complication thanks to your thoroughness and great explanation of the process. We were unsure where the non-evaporating oil comes into play in the process. I saw no mention of this in the video, written instructions, or cd material. Please advise. Thanks again! Anders Kirleis Engineering Designs For Vision, Inc.  The oil is to be applied using the cotton pads provided.  It needs to be put on the round rod that the carriage travels on.  A cleaning and...

Designjet 500 800 belt jumping teeth

If the belt is slipping on the motor pulley, it is because the belt tensioner is clipped down in the service position or the motor pulley still has debris in the teeth from the old belt.  The fix is to remove the right end cover and use a small...

Designjet 500 Error Code 17:11

Posted by Bob Wert on

The error code 17:11 is not an error code listed in the service manual.  It seems to occur at the beginning of initialization and the plotter gets stuck there.  It is useful to use the green light on the power button to troubleshoot the problem rather than to try to interpret the code.If the green light is blinking twice every few seconds, the plotter cannot find the data cable that connects the interconnect board (the board the control panel plugs into) and the electronics module.  Try reseating the cable at the interconnect board and at the electronics module.  If the...
