Is your printer telling you "ink cartridge empty," showing an "X" on a cartridge, or otherwise not accepting ink cartridges? This is the solution. Sometimes the printer will get picky about what cartridges it accepts, and sometimes aftermarket cartridges just aren't built right, so the printer rejects them.

The mod chip does not do anything to the ink cartridges themselves. Rather, this mod chip allows you to use ANY cartridge by tricking the printer's logic into thinking there is a FULL set of HP OEM cartridges installed at all times (even if you remove the cartridges from the printer altogether). For this reason, DO NOT START PRINTING WITH THE CARTRIDGES OUT OF THE MACHINE, as this will starve the printheads of ink. When the mod chip is installed, the printer can't tell if ink cartridges are present or not. It will simply perpetually believe there are full cartridges present. The ink supply station, however WILL continue to pressurize the ink cartridges as usual, allowing for safe, continuous use of the printer.

Poor service

I called multiple times and was told Tim would return my call when he was not busy. I guess he's always to busy to talk to paying customers. I ended up picking up a print head else where for my design jet 500 that fixed my issue. LPS prices are to high. I found the refill cartridges at Inkowl.com for less money and they work great. You don't need the little circuit board module LPS is sell. Unfortunately, I learned that the hard way. LPS will happily sell you over priced parts that you do not need and then not provide you support. Inkowl.com also had the print head repair kit for less money. However, the one I got from LPS did not work for me. Like I said I ended up having to buy a new number 11 print head. I won't be buying anything from LPS anytime soon.

Works like a charm

Timely delivery, easy to install, works as advertised. My HP Designjet 500PS now happily prints with 3rd party/refurbished ink cartridges, which is essential since original cartridges are virtually unavailable.

DesignJet Ink Cartridge Modification Chip

I currently use refillable cartridges. The printer frequently reported these as "wrong cartridge". The problen was insconsistent. I required removing the cartridges and replacing. The chip solved the problem. However, as LPS advises, the chip will disable ink monitoring levels. I alos note that I had a couple of technical questions, which LPS anserwered promptly.
